In January, Michele Marsland, owner of Marslands Accountants Ltd in Plympton celebrated 10 years in business.
Marslands Accountants Ltd started off from a desk in Michele’s front room in 2006. Two years ago she purchased premises in Branson Court, Plympton to help with her expansion plans.
Last year Marslands expanded further with the addition of two members of staff and Zena Commander joined as a business associate towards the end of the year. With loyal clients who have been with Michele from the very beginning and many new clients over the years, the business is growing fast.
Michele is a fully qualified Chartered Certified Accountant and also a Chartered Tax Advisor, so clients can be assured their affairs are in qualified hands.
Michele Marsland, owner said; “10 years in business is a long time for small businesses as many don’t make it past the first 3 years. There have been a lot of changes over my period in business with a major recession having a large impact on small businesses. Also technology has advanced so much in that time and the use of mobile phones to read emails was in its infancy back then!
Over the last 10 years I have established myself locally as an expert in property rentals. I have in recent years helped many new clients take advantage of the HMRC amnesty scheme where we have declared previously undisclosed rental income to avoid penalties and tax enquiries. Professional tax assistance for those with rental properties will become more of a necessity as the Government are bringing in several new changes to the buy to let market over the next 5 years.
I pride myself on giving my clients a personal service and strive to help them save more money than the fee they pay me! I am also helping small businesses get on to cloud accounting software which is becoming more and more popular and convenient with the internet being so accessible now.”
Marslands donates £25 for each new client to either SSAFA or St. Luke’s – last year over £400 was raised for the two charities.
